Belgian Style Wheat Beer (Horny Goat)
While this beer has a far from original name, it's the best beer so far in our Horny Goat mixed pack we got during our trip to Wisconsin. This was brewed with coriander and orange peel.
From the Horny Goat site:
General Thoughts: This is definitely the best in the pack. I'm pretty picky with my wheat beers. I would say that this rates in the top half. It poured nice and cloudy after I got the last yeasty bit from the bottom. It is a nice golden color; it's more yellow than orange. Really light short head. It has a nice light scent. You get a little bit of the citrus smell. It has a nice sweetish Belgian taste. It's light and smooth. It is very carbonated. You taste the citrus throughout. You actually do taste the coriander near the end, but it's gone quickly. I was a bit surprised about that. It gives it that little extra bit that pushes it into the good end of wheat beers. It ends super light, carrying that citrus to the end. Slight, light after taste. Nice wheat, better than Boulevard.
From the Horny Goat site:
"White beers have been brewed in Belgium for over 300 years. Craft brewers introduced this beer style to the US, and beer drinkers have embraced the flavor. This brew is intentionally cloudy due to the wheat used in the mash, and the yeasts carry over into the final product. Enjoy the crisp flavor from the spices and the wheat. The lively level of carbonation will dance on your tongue. Grab a Goat by the horns and bottoms up!"
