Hop Rod (Bear Republic)

The last time I had this Rye brew was at least two years ago on tap at a great pub. I enjoyed it then, but never saw it on tap again. I picked up a bomber at my local liquor shop.

General Thoughts
Look and Smell: The bubbly head settled. It was a dark brown-amber. I could smell the bitter hops. As I drank it down it had light lacing.

Taste: It was bitter right on. I could taste the grain. It had a nice roasted aftertaste. It is not a super complex taste. It was very nice, as good as I remember. It's a nice grainy brew.

From the Bear Republic site:
Rye IPA
ABV: 8.0% IBU: 80 Color: Amber
A high gravity IPA brewed with 18% rye malt. Hop Rod Rye has a floral hop aroma and subtle caramel notes with a slightly earthy and spicy rye character.
