The Kaiser 2008 (Avery)

I grabbed this from my Dictators Series stash. Fall was in the air, so this Imperial Oktoberfest Lager was just the brew I needed.

*I didn't get a good pic of the pour.

General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This was a burnt orange brew. It had a frothy tan head that dissipated quickly. A little ring of foam hangs around. I could smell the sweetness of this lager with the grainy malt. I also smelled caramel and a lighter malt.

Taste: This tastes like candy to me, but not in a Belgian-y sugar kind of way. Like candied orange. It has some caramel to it, some grain. I got mostly the sweet and orange. After aging three years, I don't think it was too boozy. It mellowed out. I'd definitely get another bottle to keep around for the fall.

From the Avery site:
The Kaiser sonce said, "Give me a woman who loves beer and I will conquer the world." If the Kaiser and his significant other had tipped this bottle, we'd all be "sprechenden Deutsch!" We took all that is good in a traditional Oktoberfest - gorgeous, deep copper sheen, massive malty backbone and spicy, floral, pungent noble hops - then intensified each into this, an Imperial Oktoberfest.
