Retribution and Dunegräs (Greenbush Brewing Company)

This was another beer I tried at the MWBF that is definitely worth mentioning. I stepped up to the table for Greenbush Brewing Company, and they had a fantastic product sheet with all the tasty brews listed. I started asking questions and the brewmaster stepped up to talk. My vibe for the whole operation is that they are excited about it, have a strong business strategy, are super down to earth, and really take pride in their creative brews.

Their MI location requires a unique offering to stand out! The Belgian-style ale and Dunegras fit the bill.

Retribution
Look and Smell: The smell was the first part of the experience for me. It was complex, and not overpowering. I could smell dates and raisins with cinnamon and spices. It had a tan-colored head and was a rich dark brown.

Taste: It was boozy and tasted like it smelled. It was tart. I got the distinct taste of tobacco. It was a dream. Their other brews were good too, but this is one worth coming back for.

From the Greenbush site:

Dunegräs
Look and Smell: This pale ale was a cloudy gold with a thin white head. I smelled earthy hops.

Taste: It was piney and bitter. It was creamy too, which made it that much more enjoyable. This was a solid IPA.

From the Greenbush site:
A justly hopped india pale ale with absolutely no dunegrass. Combining west coast and noble hops to create our own ipa with a shining finish. And, as an environmental treat, absolutely no dunegrass was killed in order to make our fine beer, so drink up!
