Gemini (Sixpoint Craft Ales)
This was not even my beer! Mr. K gave me a taste...and then I took a couple more healthy sips so that I could make some notes. This was one IPA that I didn't want to forget.
General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This brew was a cloudy burnt orange. It left light lacing on the glass. It smelled like slightly sweet citrus. Like a tangerine.
Taste: It was like a pomelo, sweet but with the bitterness of a really good grapefruit. It was pithy. It was really good though! There was this sweet, caramel spike to it too. It was having an identity crisis, but in a good way. Gemini, it earned that name!
From the Sixpoint site:
What could be better than giving birth to an IPA? How about realizing you had beautiful twins?
Our craft ale brewery realizes you cannot simply stack two IPAs on top of on another to create a greater beer.
Rather, these two IPAs must spring from the same source and be greater than the sum of its parts. Balanced, light and airy while strong and independent--that is the sign of the Sixpoint Gemini.
The twins arrive with a full-frontal bouquet of lemon citrus zest and caramel candy. The flavor evolves into a full-bodied malt assault flanked by bitter and flavorful hops from the rear. It coats your tongue like cotton candy and wipes it clean with bitter citrus sorbet.
