Hell (Surly)

This was the perfect set of notes to pull from my queue....reflects my life this week. I purchased this light lager this past summer on my MN/WI run and should have drank it long ago. Rest assured, it was still good.

General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This yellow-gold brew had a thin, foamy white head. It was...light. The smell was as light as the color.

Taste: It tasted light, with a light sweetness. It was pretty yeasty for a lager. It was almost bready. For a lager, this was good. No aftertaste really to speak of. I'm not big on the traditional lagers. This was definitely something that you could drink all night. Writing this really makes me want to go get another.

From the Surly site:
Finally, a Surly beer my German mother will drink. She says this one tastes like a bier from back home. Not unlike a Zwickel Bier from Germany, Hell is not filtered and fermented with lager yeast. American hops takes a back seat to the Pils malt sweetness and fresh bread aroma. The color is well... hell (Deutsch for light). It’s fiendishly drinkable, and you don’t have to sell your soul to get another.

STYLE: German Style Munich Helles
MALT: Pilsner, Carahell
HOPS: Sterling
YEAST: German Lager

*The description is a good one. See....fresh bread aroma; I'm not nuts.
