Jumbo Love (Figure 8)
This black barleywine was a new brew at Figure 8. We were in the area for a delicious brunch at Pikk's Tavern, but I'd be lying if I said the stop at Figure 8 wasn't the partly the point of the trip.
General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This dark brown brew had a very slight tan head that was really just a little ring around the edge. The malted grain smell got stronger as it warmed.
Taste: This was more bitter than malty, but got a little sweeter as I drank it. It ended with a bitter roast like burnt coffee and a stickiness. It was a heavy beer that definitely didn't hide the alcohol content.
