Coming Home
I'm back from a long journey filled with fun, food, and architecture. Nothing helps you think about your life like a long time away from your day-to-day existence.
When you return you encounter everything you've truly missed, your pets, your favorite meal, your bed. When you come back you face everything you dread, your job, conflict, bills, and other stressors. You also realize what doesn't matter, those things that you forgot until faced with them again, an e-mail, a personal issue, a missed opportunity.
Maybe you don't need a vacation to realize what's important to you or to put your life in a new perspective. I like the idea of it though. And I like when my mind wanders back to the journey too.
