Orange Wit (Crown Brewing)
This was a fairly complex offering from Crown Brewing in Crown Point, Indiana. Most of their beer is standard fare, some not so good, but this stood out from the list.
General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This orange beer had a thick white head that settled down to a ring of bubbles. I could smell sugar and orange peel.
Taste: This complexity of flavor matches the listing in the description. The elderflower and chamomile come through. It was orangy. It was juicy. It was malty. But it was incredibly light. All the flavors were delicate and didn't overpower each other. It was a good floral, citrus, sweet balance.
From the menu:
Our take on a summer classic. Fermented with Belgian wit yeast. Brewed with Hemp Seeds, coriander, grains of paradise, lemon grass, sweet orange peel, lemon peel, chamomile, and elderflowers. More orange and lemon peel were added directly to the serving tank.
