Octavius (Hunter's Brewing)
Hunter's brewed this smoked ale for a beer and dinner course pairing at Octave Grill. I didn't get a chance to attend the event, but I got a glass and growler of this brew at the taproom.
General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This light brownish brew smelled like sweet malt and light smoke. It had a white head that settled down to a layer on top.
Taste: It was roasted and smoky. It wasn't that liquid smoke addition, it was a gentle smoked flavor. It was creamy. It was almost chewy with malt proteins. It ended dry. The small growler went perfect with my fire-roasted chili that night. I wish I could stock this in my cellar all winter long.
