Dad's Little Helper (Rogue)

I enjoyed a pint of this Black IPA on tap at Beer Geeks. Black IPAs have always intrigued me for some reason. Hops...roast...and always different.

General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This black brew had a thin head that settled quickly. I then noticed that the bartenders were scooping head out of other beers with a spoon on other pours, so I can't say how rich this head was before they tampered with it. I could smell the hops and roasted malt. It was a pretty light smell. It had lacing as I drank it down.

Taste: It was bitter and malty, just like the description on the beer list. The roast carries through from beginning to end. The aftertaste is a bitter roast. Not bad.

From the Rogue site:

Tasting Notes:
Dad’s Little Helper Black IPA is deep mahogany in color with roasted malt and hop aromas and dense creamy head. It enters the palate with intense hop flavor and coats the tongue with a rich maltiness from the Rogue Farms Risk Malt.
