The Poet (New Holland)

Cooler weather calls for heartier brews. Rich oatmeal stouts fit the bill. On our way home late one evening we got the urge to hit up Beer Geeks again. After one and a half brews I forced myself out. It was crowded and uncomfortably loud, but the tap list was amazing as always. It was hard to leave.

This was not the first time I'd had this New Holland brew, but I didn't have notes for it yet.

General Thoughts
Look and Smell: This black brew had a creamy, chocolate-colored head. I couldn't smell much over the bar, but I remember it having a sweet and bitter chocolate aroma.

Taste: It was creamy. It was a bitter dark chocolate. It had a dry-roast aftertaste. It was slightly sugary. It was exactly what an oatmeal stout should be.
